Character Notes: Remus is the primary personality shown and the form seen in is his.

Remus is always seen in his Delphin form. He’s tall (6’6”) with dark grey fur, black hooves, black mane and tail, and a black spiral horn ending jaggedly due to a broken tip. A very lanky figure, his mane and tail is normally unkempt and snarled. His eyes are dark brown and sunken in. Overall, he has a very tired and haunted look. Assumed to be Phase 3 due to his broken horn, age (over 2000 years), and severe personality shift.

On the rare occasion Matthias is in control, his appearance is much neater and he acts much more calmly and sociable.

In both personalities, he carries around a sword strapped to his waist, though only Remus uses it, and to everyone’s horror, quite well.

Character's history: Born in Di’aru, there is not too much known about Remus’ childhood except he comes from a long family of Guardians and the occasional Royal Guard and he was around during the Empire and watched it crumble. As a result, he’s very loyal and proud of being Delphin and takes his role as a Guardian very seriously. Due to his age, he’s a member of the older generation of Guardians and can be critical of the younger ones.

Matthias, on the other hand, came from a family of merchants. Displaying skills in both writing and public speaking, he became involved in anti-slavery movements, he wrote pamphlets to be passed out and distributed and spoke at meetings. Worried for the safety of their son, his parents hired a Guardian to protect him. That Guardian was Remus.

Despite a great age difference (several hundred years apart) the two got along fairly well. Remus did his job, Matthias did his. However, when returning from an anti-slavery meeting held in Ametiton, the two were set upon. Matthias was killed and Remus left with a broken horn and on the verge of death. Taken back to Di’aru, he lapsed into a coma.

It was ten years before he awoke, and when he did, it was obvious any and all sanity was gone. Raving and ranting, he began holding long conversations with himself and acting violently toward people who tried to approach him. Much to the surprise of the doctors and nurses, he constantly brought up Matthias’ name, as if he was holding a conversation with the deceased Delphin. Despite numerous attempts to explain Matthias was dead, Remus never accepted it, claiming Matthias was “right there with him.”

During his observational period, it was determined there were two distinct personalities, one being a maddened and crazy Remus, and the other, a much calmer, intelligent, and sociable person. Due to his insistence, the second personality was dubbed Matthias.

In the end, Remus broke himself out of the hospital and channeling both personalities, he now wanders around Damantru, fighting for the rights of slaves (as Matthias) and protecting his charge (as Remus). And getting into trouble. Lots of it.

Character's personality: While Matthias is soft spoken and polite, Remus is brash and often quite rude with a very short temper. Unfortunately, it is Remus who is normally the dominant personality. His general sanity and grip on reality has drastically weakened over the years and it’s not uncommon to see him raving and ranting in the streets and talking to himself, sometimes going between the roles of Remus and Matthias, though it is usually a one-sided conversation.

Because of his blind dedication toward Matthias, Remus is very easily manipulated and tends to land himself into trouble. On more than one occasion, he’s been tricked into hunting down slaves or killing people for others.

Matthias, on the other hand, is a very calm and sociable individual. The amount he manifests and the duration is seemingly random; sometimes he exists for weeks on end, other times he’ll appear in the middle of a conversation for a minute before leaving.

It must be noted Remus does not realize “Matthias” is merely another side of his personality; to him, Matthias is someone that is standing next to him. On the other hand, “Matthias” does not realize Remus is another personality. This can lead to plenty of confusion to people who meet them for the first time and try to engage in conversation with them.
